2020 Ford Raptor Hybrid Canada Review

2020 Ford Raptor Hybrid Canada Review – Ford is the king of truck sales, and he wants to remain so. A large part of the plan is continuous innovation, and after the introduction of an F-150 truck with aluminum body for the current generation, the Blue Oval has confirmed that a fully electric F-150 is approaching. This model will be added to the previously announced hybrid version to be launched in 2020.

Ford’s global marketing chief, Jim Farley, told investors at the Deutsche Bank Global Automotive Conference in Detroit that the plans are in the process of electrifying the best-selling F-series truck. “We’re going to be electrifying the F series: electric and Hybrid battery,” Farley said, according to the Detroit Free Press.

A timeline was not part of the announcement, nor were there any other details such as motor train information, but a Ford spokesman tells us that there are plans to debut a pure F-150 EV… Eventually. “We are constantly looking for new ways to better serve our truck customers, from materials to features and propulsion systems ,” said Ford spokesman Emma Bergg. “We’re not specifying time. We have No more details to share at this time “.

Of course, this is not the first time a Ford executive insinuates an electric F series. Last year, executive President Bill Ford said this in a celebration of the centenary of the Ford Rouge manufacturing Complex:

“[The F-150 Hybrid is going to be a truck that will take it further without sacrificing energy and a truck that will help you do more when you get there, with electricity for everything from your tools to your camping equipment. And then we’ll continue to innovate. When it comes to building the best trucks in the world, we never rest. Whether it’s gas, diesel, hybrids, or when the time comes, completely electric, we’ll make sure they feed the world in a sustainable way. And they remain built as Ford Tough “.

That sounds more like we’re going to see a Ford F-Series Electric When all the other cars on the road are electric. But again, there may also be a more immediate plan for an electric truck between last October, when those comments were made, and Farley’s confirmation of an F-Series EV this week. One important thing that has happened since then is Ford’s alliance with Volkswagen. The two car manufacturers will work together on the production of next-generation medium-sized trucks and also explore collaboration in other areas, such as electric and self-contained vehicles.

FoMoCo manufactured a fully electric Ranger from 1998 to 2002, so the company has some knowledge to use in an electrified F-series truck, although the great advances in technology and the adoption of EV will make them of limited use. Ranger EV had a range of just under 100 miles, for example, while now both Tesla and Rivian Automotive intend to launch EV pickups with more than 400 miles of reach. The Tesla truck should arrive after the model and, while we have already seen the impressive Rivian R1T currently scheduled for launch in 2020.

We already know that Ford is planning a fully electric Transit van, as well as an electric crossover inspired by the Mustang, but is the world ready for a fully electric F-150? Could the recent Ford partnership with Volkswagen-centric EV help in this effort? We’re not sure, but we don’t expect to see Ford’s fully electric pickup in the short term.
